Stellenbosch-Hamburg Condensed Matter Symposium
Joint symposium of
Stellenbosch University, the NITheCS, and Hamburg University
April 9th and 10th, 2024,
Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS)
Stellenbosch, South Africa.
About the symposium
This symposium connects renowned institutions from Stellenbosch and Hamburg, Lund, Warsaw, Boston, and Baltimore, bridging continents to share, discuss and explore advancements in theoretical condensed matter physics and related areas in theoretical and mathematical physics. The symposium is designed to foster global scientific exchange and future collaborations. The symposium organized by the “Next Generation Partnership” program of the University of Hamburg, the Stellenbosch University, and NITheCS.
Sessions
Our agenda encompasses an array of engaging sessions, featuring the topics
- Spin & topology & superconductivity theory
- Geometrical aspects of quantum systems and coherent states
- Noncommutative quantum mechanics/decoherence
- Quantum many-body systems
- Quantum technologies/Computer & machine learning
Additional activities
To support an atmosphere for rich discussion, the symposium includes an extended lunch break, a poster session, and a conference dinner. The posters are presented by a 1-minute presentation on the main stage, giving young scientists the chance to pitch their research in front of a larger audience.
